How long was Noah's Ark, using the measurements given in Genesis?

The story behind the answer

Genesis gives Noah's Ark a length of 300 cubits.

Genesis 6:15 lists the ark’s dimensions as 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high. A cubit was an ancient unit generally related to the length of a forearm, but its exact historical measurement varied. For that reason, the biblical figure cannot be converted into one universally certain modern length.

Using common estimates, 300 cubits would be roughly 135 metres, or about 450 feet, though different cubit standards produce different results. The proportions—six times as long as the ark was wide and ten times as long as it was high—are more stable than any single metric conversion.

The text also describes multiple decks, rooms, and a window. These details have inspired modern replicas and engineering comparisons, but no verified archaeological remains of the biblical ark have been established. The 300-cubit figure comes specifically from Genesis’ stated dimensions.
