From what camera perspective are the main Uncharted games played?
Answer
Third-person
Answer
Third-person
The main Uncharted games are played from a third-person camera perspective.
That viewpoint places the camera behind and slightly above the controlled character, allowing players to see Nathan Drake—or, in The Lost Legacy, Chloe Frazer—while moving through the environment. It supports the series’ blend of shooting, climbing, platforming, exploration, driving and puzzle solving.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune introduced the formula in 2007, followed by Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in 2009, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in 2011 and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in 2016. The mainline games are often described as third-person action-adventure shooters, although they also contain extended cinematic, traversal and stealth sequences.
A common mix-up is confusing the camera perspective with the genre. “Action-adventure” describes the type of game, while “third-person” describes how the player views and controls the character. Spin-offs and related Uncharted media can use different formats, but the main games consistently use this over-the-shoulder style.
