#clapforourcarers was repeated weekly in the UK at what time?

The story behind the answer

#clapforourcarers was repeated weekly in the UK at 20:00 Thursdays.

The weekly applause began on Thursday, March 26, 2020, during the first UK lockdown. At 8 p.m., people stepped outside their homes, leaned from windows, or stood at doorways to applaud NHS staff and other key workers. Clapping was often joined by cheers, bells, whistles, music and banging pots and pans.

The campaign continued every Thursday evening through May 28, 2020. Its regular timing helped turn the gesture into a shared national ritual, allowing people to participate while observing distancing rules and staying close to home. Television coverage and participation by politicians, celebrities and members of the royal family increased its visibility.

The event is sometimes remembered simply as “the Thursday clap” or “Clap for Carers,” and the campaign’s audience expanded beyond healthcare workers to include delivery drivers, teachers, emergency workers, cleaners and shop employees. A separate NHS anniversary clap later took place on July 5, so that date should not be confused with the weekly series.
