Before Jack Clarke, two Ipswich Town players had scored 90th-minute Premier League winners.
Clarke’s late goal against Sunderland in the 2026–27 opening weekend made him the third Ipswich player to achieve that feat. The two earlier players were Fabian Wilnis, who scored a 90th-minute winner against Coventry City in November 2000, and Jack Taylor, who did so against Wolverhampton Wanderers in December 2024.
The statistic concerns winning goals scored in the 90th minute, rather than every goal scored during stoppage time. That distinction matters because match reports often describe late goals using different time labels.
Ipswich’s 2–1 victory over Sunderland was also significant as the club’s first Premier League match after returning to the top flight. Clarke’s strike therefore combined a match-winning moment with a place in Ipswich history.
