At which studio complex in the Bahamas was AC/DC's album 'Back in Black' recorded?

The story behind the answer

AC/DC recorded Back in Black at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, the Bahamas. The sessions took place in April and May 1980, with Robert John “Mutt” Lange producing.

Compass Point Studios was founded in 1977 by Island Records founder Chris Blackwell. Built near Nassau on New Providence, it attracted international artists who wanted a relaxed Caribbean setting and a professionally equipped recording facility. AC/DC used the studio while preparing the album that would follow the death of singer Bon Scott.

Back in Black became a turning point for the band. Brian Johnson joined as the new lead vocalist, and the album’s black cover served as a tribute to Scott. Released on 25 July 1980, it produced major songs including “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Hells Bells” and its title track. A common mix-up is identifying the album with studios in London or Memphis; although AC/DC had recorded elsewhere, Compass Point is the Bahamas complex specifically associated with Back in Black. The studio later closed in September 2010.
