At which recording studio did Metallica record most of The Black Album?
Answer
One on One Recording Studios
Answer
One on One Recording Studios
Metallica recorded most of The Black Album at One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles.
The band began recording there in October 1990, working with producer Bob Rock during sessions that lasted roughly eight months. One on One was a large Los Angeles recording facility known for accommodating demanding rock productions and powerful drum sounds.
The album’s production was not confined to one room. Metallica also spent about a week at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, and later completed additional overdubs and mixing at A&M Studios in Hollywood. Nevertheless, One on One is identified as the album’s principal studio.
The facility later became known as 17 Hertz Studio. Its connection with Metallica remained especially prominent because the studio also appeared in the documentary A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica, which followed the album’s creation and the tour that followed it.
