At which Paralympic Games did para snowboarding make its debut?

The story behind the answer

Para snowboarding made its Paralympic debut at the Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympic Games.

The sport was contested in snowboard cross at Sochi, with competitors divided into classes based on physical impairment. Athletes raced down a course containing turns, jumps and other features, with the fastest finisher winning.

Para snowboard later expanded at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Paralympics to include banked slalom, alongside snowboard cross. Banked slalom uses separate timed runs on a course marked by banked turns.

Para snowboarding is governed internationally by the International Paralympic Committee, although the sport developed within the wider snowboarding community. It is different from para alpine skiing, where athletes race on skis rather than a snowboard.
