Beyoncé performed the 2018 set documented in Homecoming at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, commonly called Coachella. The festival takes place in Indio, California.
Her performances occurred over two weekends in April 2018. She became the first Black woman to headline Coachella, and the set drew on marching-band traditions, step-show aesthetics, pop choreography, and a large live ensemble. The performance was notable both for its scale and for its celebration of historically Black college and university culture.
Beyoncé had originally been scheduled to headline in 2017, but her appearance was postponed because of her pregnancy. She returned as a headliner in 2018. Homecoming later turned the performance into a concert film and live album, but the festival itself was Coachella.
