Beyoncé headlined Coachella in 2018 in the performance known as Beychella.
She became the first Black woman to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival when she performed in April 2018. The set was staged across two weekends in Indio, California, and featured a large marching-band-inspired production, extensive choreography, and songs from throughout her career.
The performance included reunions with Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. It also featured appearances by Jay-Z and Solange, making the show a major celebration of Beyoncé’s musical history and Black college marching-band traditions.
The first weekend was streamed globally, and the performance later became the subject of the Netflix documentary Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé. “Beychella” is an informal nickname for the event, not the festival’s official name. Coachella’s formal title is the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
