Beyoncé headlined Coachella in 2018 and later released the concert film Homecoming.
She performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 14 and April 21, 2018. Her performance made her the first Black woman to headline the festival. The set featured a large marching-band and dance production and reunited her with Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
The performance drew on historically Black colleges and universities, especially their marching-band traditions, step shows, and campus culture. Its setlist included songs from Beyoncé’s solo career and Destiny’s Child repertoire.
Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé premiered on Netflix in April 2019. The accompanying live album, Homecoming: The Live Album, documented the performance. Coachella is held in Indio, California, and is formally called the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
