Answer
National Jazz and Blues Festival
Fleetwood Mac made its live debut at the National Jazz and Blues Festival in August 1967.
The performance took place on Sunday, 13 August, in Windsor, Berkshire. The newly formed group was billed as “Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac featuring Jeremy Spencer,” reflecting Peter Green’s central role and the band’s still-developing identity.
The lineup was not yet the classic one later associated with Fleetwood Mac. Mick Fleetwood played drums, Green and Spencer played guitar, and Bob Brunning handled bass because John McVie had not yet agreed to leave John Mayall’s band. McVie joined within weeks and became the group’s long-term bassist.
A common mix-up is Reading Festival: the National Jazz and Blues Festival was its predecessor and later evolved into the Reading Festival. Monterey Pop Festival and the Isle of Wight Festival were separate events and were not Fleetwood Mac’s first live appearance.
