Beyoncé performed the headline set documented in Homecoming at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
She headlined Coachella in April 2018, becoming the first Black woman to headline the festival. The performances took place over two weekends in Indio, California, and were widely noted for their scale, precision, and celebration of historically Black college and university culture.
The production included marching bands, drumlines, a large dance ensemble, and a set list spanning Beyoncé’s solo catalog and Destiny’s Child material. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined her during a Destiny’s Child reunion segment, while Jay-Z also appeared during the performance.
Netflix’s 2019 documentary Homecoming presents the preparation and execution of those shows. Coachella is often shortened from its full name, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It is not the same event as the Glastonbury Festival in England, Lollapalooza in Chicago, or Austin City Limits in Texas.
