Beyoncé performed the concert later called Homecoming at Coachella in 2018.
She headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 14 and April 21, 2018. The performance made her the first Black woman to headline the festival, a milestone widely noted in coverage of the event.
The show featured a marching-band and majorette-inspired presentation, a large ensemble of dancers and musicians, and appearances by Destiny’s Child, Jay-Z, and Solange. Its musical design connected Beyoncé’s catalog with traditions associated with historically Black colleges and universities.
The performance was documented in the 2019 Netflix film Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé and accompanied by a live album. Coachella is the festival answer; Homecoming is the later film and album title, not the name of the festival where the concert took place.
