Beyoncé performed the concert documented in Homecoming at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
She headlined Coachella in April 2018, becoming the first Black woman to headline the festival. Her performance featured a large marching-band and dance ensemble, Destiny’s Child guest appearances, and songs spanning her solo career and group history.
Netflix released Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé on April 17, 2019. The documentary combines performance footage with behind-the-scenes material about the preparation for the festival appearance.
The event is often casually called “Beychella,” a nickname formed from Beyoncé and Coachella. Coachella is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, rather than in the city of Palm Springs. Beyoncé had originally been scheduled to perform in 2017 but postponed after announcing her pregnancy.
