At which Disney resort did Duffy the Disney Bear first debut?

The story behind the answer

Duffy the Disney Bear first debuted at Tokyo DisneySea.

The bear appeared at the Japanese theme park in 2002, initially under the name Disney Bear. Unlike many Disney characters that began in animated films or television programs, Duffy was developed primarily as a character for theme-park merchandise and storytelling.

Tokyo DisneySea provided the setting for the character’s early popularity. Guests could buy Duffy plush toys and related products, and the character’s travel-companion story connected naturally with the park’s nautical atmosphere. This strong merchandise response helped Disney expand Duffy’s presence.

Duffy was later introduced at other Disney parks, but those appearances came after the Tokyo DisneySea debut. The character’s origin is therefore distinct from the origins of Mickey Mouse, the Disney Princesses, or other film-based merchandise lines.
