At which 1984 venues were the Summer Paralympic Games held?
Answer
Stoke Mandeville and New York
Answer
Stoke Mandeville and New York
The 1984 Summer Paralympic Games were held at Stoke Mandeville in England and New York in the United States.
The event was split between two locations because organizers in Illinois withdrew from hosting the planned American portion. New York hosted events for athletes with physical disabilities, while Stoke Mandeville hosted events for athletes with visual impairments and other classifications. The Games ran from 22 July to 1 August 1984.
This arrangement makes 1984 unusual in Paralympic history. It is often incorrectly described as simply the Los Angeles Paralympics, because Los Angeles hosted the 1984 Olympic Games. The Paralympics were separate from those Olympics and used two host sites.
