At which 1984 Games did boccia first appear as a Paralympic sport?

The story behind the answer

Boccia first appeared as a Paralympic sport at the 1984 New York and Stoke Mandeville Games.

Boccia is a precision ball sport in which athletes throw, roll or kick coloured balls as close as possible to a smaller white target ball called the jack. It was introduced to the Paralympic programme in 1984, when the Games were split between venues in New York, United States, and Stoke Mandeville, United Kingdom.

The sport was originally designed for athletes with cerebral palsy, although its classification system later expanded to include athletes with other significant physical impairments. Competitors may play individually, in pairs or in teams, depending on their class.

Boccia is often confused with bowls or pétanque because all involve aiming balls toward a target. Its distinctive feature is the extensive use of ramps, assistants and permitted assistive devices in some classes.
