Newcastle United versus Liverpool kicked off at 16:30 BST on Sunday 23 August 2026.
The match was the final fixture scheduled for that Sunday in the opening round. It followed the simultaneous 14:00 fixtures between Manchester City and Bournemouth and between Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa.
The fixture ended in a 2–2 draw at St James’ Park. Premier League schedules list times in British local time, so the August kickoff was expressed as British Summer Time rather than Greenwich Mean Time.
Kickoff times can change after the initial fixture release because of broadcast selections, European competitions and policing requirements. The official opening schedule listed this match at 16:30.
