Across which dates did the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend take place?

The 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend ran from 21 to 24 August 2026.

The first fixture was Arsenal versus Coventry City on Friday 21 August. Saturday contained five matches, Sunday contained three, and Fulham versus Chelsea finished the round on Monday 24 August. Together, those fixtures made up the complete ten-match opening round.

The term “opening weekend” can be slightly misleading because the round extended beyond the traditional Saturday-Sunday weekend. Premier League fixture rounds are often distributed across several days for broadcasting and scheduling reasons, and this opening round included both a Friday opener and a Monday closer.

The dates should not be confused with the fixture-release date of 19 June 2026 or the season’s scheduled final day of 30 May 2027. The opening round’s date range refers to when its matches were played, not when the schedule was announced.
