According to Genesis, who was Noah’s father?

According to Genesis, Noah’s father was Lamech.

Genesis 5:28–29 introduces Lamech as the father of Noah. Lamech named his son Noah, explaining that the child would bring relief from the difficult labor associated with farming the ground after God’s curse on the soil.

Lamech belonged to the genealogical line descended from Seth, Adam and Eve’s son. Genesis places Noah among the tenth generation from Adam in this lineage. This Lamech is different from the Lamech mentioned earlier in Genesis 4, who descended from Cain and is associated with a separate family line.

Genesis later identifies Noah as the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth. Their names appear repeatedly in the Flood narrative, while the text does not give Noah’s wife a personal name.
