According to Genesis, Noah's father in the Noah's Ark story is Lamech.
Genesis 5:28–29 introduces Lamech as the father of Noah. Lamech gives his son the name Noah and connects it with comfort from the toil caused by the ground’s curse. Noah later becomes the central human figure in Genesis chapters 6–9, where he builds the ark and survives the flood with his household.
Lamech is easy to confuse with other names in the genealogy. Methuselah is Noah’s grandfather according to the genealogy, while Enoch is an earlier ancestor and Seth is Adam and Eve’s son. These figures belong to the same genealogy but occupy different generations.
The Genesis account also names Noah’s sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—but the question of his father is answered directly by the genealogy before the flood narrative begins.
