According to Genesis, what was the name of the mountain where Noah built an altar after the Flood?

The story behind the answer

According to Genesis, no mountain is named as the place where Noah built his post-Flood altar.

Genesis 8:20 says that Noah built an altar to the Lord after leaving the ark and offered burnt offerings from clean animals and birds. The verse does not identify a mountain or give a place-name for the altar. Earlier, Genesis 8:4 says the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat, but that is a separate statement about the vessel’s resting place.

This distinction prevents a common mix-up: the text links the ark with the mountains of Ararat, yet it does not say that Noah built the altar on a specifically named peak. Nor does Genesis identify the altar site with Mount Sinai or Mount Moriah, locations associated with other biblical episodes.

Later traditions and artistic depictions may connect the story with particular landscapes, but those associations do not add a mountain name to Genesis 8:20.
