According to Genesis, what was the name of Noah’s wife?

The story behind the answer

According to Genesis, Noah’s wife is not named. The Flood narrative identifies her only as Noah’s wife and does not provide a personal name.

Genesis 7:7 says Noah entered the Ark with his wife, his sons, and his sons’ wives. The text names Noah’s three sons as Shem, Ham, and Japheth, but it does not name either Noah’s wife or the wives of his sons.

Later Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions supplied different names or identifications. Naamah is associated with Noah’s wife in some Jewish traditions, but that name is not stated in the Genesis Ark account.

This makes “not named” the precise answer for the biblical text. A traditional name should not be presented as though it were directly given by Genesis.
