According to Genesis, what was Noah’s first recorded action after planting a vineyard?

The story behind the answer

According to Genesis, Noah drank wine and became drunk after planting a vineyard.

Genesis 9:20–21 says that Noah became a farmer, planted a vineyard, drank wine made from its produce, and became drunk inside his tent. The episode occurs after the Flood and after God’s covenant with Noah. It is one of the few biblical passages that describes Noah’s later life in detail.

The account then focuses on Noah’s sons. Ham saw his father’s nakedness and told his brothers, while Shem and Japheth covered Noah without looking at him. Noah later pronounced statements concerning his sons and their descendants. The passage has generated extensive interpretation, especially about the nature of Ham’s offense and the later “curse of Canaan.”

This story is separate from the Flood narrative itself. Noah’s drunkenness occurs after he leaves the ark, plants a vineyard, and begins life in the post-Flood world.
