According to Genesis, what was Noah’s age when the Flood waters came?
Answer
600 years old
Answer
600 years old
According to Genesis, Noah was 600 years old when the Flood waters came.
Genesis 7:6 states that Noah was six hundred years old when the Flood occurred. The chapter uses his age as a chronological marker, helping place the event within the family history introduced earlier in Genesis. Genesis 5:32 says Noah had three sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—and Genesis 7:13 names Noah, his sons, and their wives entering the Ark.
The number belongs to the narrative’s genealogical chronology, in which exceptionally long lifespans are assigned to early human figures. It should not be confused with Noah’s age when his sons were born or with the total time spent on the Ark.
Genesis later says Noah lived another 350 years after the Flood and died at 950. Thus, the text presents 600 as Noah’s age at the Flood, not his final age.
