According to Genesis, in which month did Noah leave the Ark after the ground became dry?

The story behind the answer

According to Genesis, Noah left the Ark in the second month after the ground became dry.

Genesis 8:14–16 says that by the twenty-seventh day of the second month the Earth was dry, and God then told Noah to leave the Ark with his family and the animals. This is the final departure stage in the Genesis Flood chronology.

The passage also mentions other months, which can cause confusion. The Ark is said to rest on the mountains of Ararat in the seventh month, and the mountain tops become visible in the tenth month. Noah later removes the covering of the Ark in the first month of the following year.

Therefore, the second month is the answer for leaving the Ark. Genesis supplies a day as well—day twenty-seven—but the question asks only for the month. The dates belong to the text’s own calendar framework.
