According to Genesis, in which month did Noah leave the Ark after the Flood?

The story behind the answer

According to Genesis, Noah left the Ark in the second month after the Flood waters had dried from the earth.

Genesis 8:14–19 gives the final stage of the Ark narrative. It says that by the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was dry, and God then told Noah to leave the Ark with his family and the animals. Noah obeyed and brought them out.

This answer requires distinguishing the month of departure from other dates in the same chronology. Genesis says the Ark rested in the seventh month, and the mountain tops became visible in the tenth month. The second month appears again at the end of the account, when the ground is sufficiently dry for everyone to leave.

Translations may preserve the wording as “second month,” while the ancient calendar system is not identical to a modern numbered calendar. The biblical text’s clear point is the month number within its own Flood chronology.
