According to Genesis, eight humans were aboard Noah’s Ark.
The group consists of Noah, his wife, his three sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—and the three wives of those sons. Genesis 7:13 describes these family members entering the Ark, while later biblical writing also refers to Noah as being saved with seven other people.
The number is sometimes confused with the animal instructions, especially because different passages discuss pairs of animals and additional animals regarded as clean. Those animal counts do not change the number of human passengers.
Genesis does not provide the names of Noah’s wife or his sons’ wives. Later traditions and religious texts sometimes assign names to them, but those names are not supplied in the Genesis account itself. The safest answer to the passenger question is therefore the total number, eight.
