Who wrote the Stranger Things episode The Lost Sister?

The story behind the answer

Justin Doble wrote the Stranger Things episode “The Lost Sister.” It is the seventh episode of season 2, released on Netflix on October 27, 2017.

The episode follows Eleven as she travels to Chicago and meets Kali, also known as Eight, another former Hawkins Lab subject with supernatural abilities. Doble’s script expands the series’ mythology beyond Hawkins and explores Eleven’s struggle between revenge and returning to protect her friends.

“The Lost Sister” is distinctive because it largely leaves the season’s main Hawkins storyline behind for a standalone Eleven-centered adventure. The Duffer Brothers wanted to build on Millie Bobby Brown’s performance and explore Eleven’s childhood, possible siblings, and growing control of her powers.

A common mix-up is confusing the writer with the director. Justin Doble wrote the episode, while Rebecca Thomas directed it. Doble also wrote other Stranger Things episodes, including “The Pollywog,” making him part of the show’s recurring writing team.
