Where was much of Stranger Things filmed?

Much of Stranger Things was filmed in Georgia.

The production used locations around the Atlanta metropolitan area to represent Hawkins, Indiana, including Jackson, East Point, Douglasville, and other Georgia communities. Jackson supplied several recognizable downtown exteriors, while the former Patrick Henry High School in Stockbridge was used for Hawkins High and Hawkins Middle School interiors and exteriors.

The series also filmed in other places, including Lithuania for parts of the Russian prison storyline in season 4 and New Mexico for some later locations. Georgia is therefore the principal filming region, not the fictional location of Hawkins itself. Hawkins is presented as an Indiana town, while the production’s physical locations are spread across several real regions.
