Who won the first season of the US singing competition 'The Voice'?

Javier Colon won the first season of the US singing competition 'The Voice'.

The inaugural American season premiered on NBC in 2011. Its signature blind auditions required coaches to choose singers without initially seeing them perform, after which contestants received coaching and competed in battles and live shows.

Colon was coached by Adam Levine and defeated Dia Frampton in the finale. He received a recording contract and a $100,000 prize. The season also featured Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton as the other original coaches.

This result is sometimes confused with season 2, won by Jermaine Paul, or with the show’s original Dutch edition. 'The Voice' differed from many earlier televised singing contests by making the coaches’ team choices central to the competition.
