Brian Ronan won the 2026 Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Musical for Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show. His design helped deliver the production’s music, voices, atmosphere, and live theatrical energy to the audience.
The Rocky Horror Show was written by Richard O’Brien and first premiered in London in 1973. It later became a major international stage phenomenon, helped by the cult success of its 1975 film adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Sound design is broader than simply making performers audible. It includes microphone systems, speaker placement, mixing, effects, and the balance between orchestra and voices. Ronan’s Tony recognized that complete sonic environment in the 2026 Broadway revival.
