The 1/52 Project was one of the recipients of the 2026 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.
The Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre recognize notable contributions that do not fit the standard competitive award categories. In 2026, the honor went to the 1/52 Project along with Jake Bell, Kenn Lubin, and Loren Plotkin.
The 1/52 Project is a theater initiative associated with supporting and developing creative work. Its recognition was therefore an honorary award, not a prize for Best Play, Best Musical, acting, direction, or design.
Other 2026 special recognitions included the Special Tony Award for the League of Resident Theatres, the Regional Theatre Tony Award for American Players Theatre, and the Excellence in Theatre Education Award for Freddie Hendricks of Utopian Academy for the Arts. These similarly named honors were separate awards.
