The Rock won the 2000 WWF Royal Rumble match by last eliminating The Big Show.

The match took place on January 23, 2000, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Rock entered at number 24 and became the second man left after eliminating The Big Show, who had entered at number 26.

The finish was controversial because The Rock’s feet appeared to touch the floor before The Big Show’s elimination. WWF officials nevertheless recognized The Rock as the winner, granting him a WWF Championship opportunity at WrestleMania 2000. The storyline controversy became part of the build to his WrestleMania match.
