Which WrestleMania was the first to take place across two nights?

The story behind the answer

WrestleMania 36 was the first WrestleMania to take place across two nights.

WWE presented WrestleMania 36 on April 4 and 5, 2020. The event was originally scheduled for Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced WWE to change the format and relocate the matches to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, with no live audience.

The two-night presentation allowed WWE to spread the event across separate programs instead of staging one very long show. WrestleMania 36 also used several cinematic matches, including the Boneyard match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles and the Firefly Fun House match involving John Cena and Bray Wyatt.

WWE retained the two-night structure after the pandemic-era event. WrestleMania 37 in 2021 was the first two-night WrestleMania held in a stadium with a live audience, taking place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
