The Canadian competition premiered on Crave and later aired through related broadcasters in 2020. Priyanka, whose real name is Mark Suknanan, competed against Canadian drag performers in challenges involving comedy, fashion, performance, acting, and runway presentation. She won the season finale and became Canada's first Drag Race champion.
The series is part of the international Drag Race franchise created by RuPaul. Its judging panel for the first season included Brooke Lynn Hytes, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, and Stacey McKenzie, with guest judges appearing throughout the competition.
Priyanka is sometimes confused with Rita Baga, the season's runner-up. Bobby Berk was a guest judge, not a contestant, while Anastarzia Anaquway competed during the season but did not win the title.
