Who was the senior director of Pokémon Pokopia?

The story behind the answer

Shigeru Ohmori was the senior director of Pokémon Pokopia.

Ohmori was also credited as the game’s concept director and helped originate the idea of letting players create and cultivate Pokémon habitats. His earlier work on Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire influenced the project, particularly his experience designing maps and thinking about how players interact with Pokémon worlds.

His role is distinct from that of Takuto Edagawa, who served as chief director from Omega Force. The two names are therefore easy to mix up: Ohmori guided the concept and senior direction, while Edagawa represented the co-developing studio’s chief directorial role.

Ohmori had previously directed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Pokopia offered him a way to explore a different direction for the franchise, replacing the usual emphasis on battles and collecting badges with building, exploration, social interaction, and environmental restoration.
