Rachel Elnaugh was the only original female dragon in the first series of the British programme Dragons' Den.
Elnaugh joined the launch panel alongside Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Theo Paphitis and Doug Richard. Before appearing on television, she was associated with Red Letter Days, a company selling experience gifts such as driving and leisure activities.
Her position on the original panel is an important detail because Deborah Meaden, now one of the programme’s most recognisable investors, did not join until the third series. Elnaugh therefore belongs specifically to the founding lineup rather than the later familiar panel.
Elnaugh left the regular cast after the second series. Red Letter Days later became associated with financial difficulties and was sold to another entrepreneur, though that business history is separate from identifying the original Dragons' Den panel.
