Which Dragon was born in Clydebank, Scotland, and later became a Dragons' Den investor?

The story behind the answer

Duncan Bannatyne was born in Clydebank, Scotland, before becoming a Dragons' Den investor.

Clydebank is a town in West Dunbartonshire, west of Glasgow. Bannatyne was born there in 1949 and later built a substantial business career, eventually becoming associated with care homes, hotels, health clubs and spas.

His path to entrepreneurship included service in the Royal Navy and a series of business ventures before the expansion of the Bannatyne Group. His television profile grew when he joined the Dragons' Den panel, where he became one of the programme's best-known Scottish investors.

The birthplace is sometimes confused with the locations of the businesses he later operated. Bannatyne's business empire became national in scope, but his recorded birthplace is Clydebank. He should also be distinguished from Peter Jones, whose long-running presence on the show made him another frequently remembered original Dragon.
