Who was the individual designer credited with the Lamborghini Countach?
Answer
Marcello Gandini
Answer
Marcello Gandini
Marcello Gandini was the individual designer credited with the Lamborghini Countach.
Gandini created the Countach’s radical wedge-shaped form while working at the Bertone design studio. Its sharp geometric surfaces, low cabin and distinctive scissor doors marked a major visual break from the softer, more rounded Lamborghini Miura that preceded it.
The first Countach prototype, known internally as the LP500, was shown at the 1971 Geneva International Motor Show. The production version followed in 1974 as the LP400, and the model remained Lamborghini’s flagship through several updates until 1990.
The Countach is sometimes associated broadly with Lamborghini’s later design chiefs or with its engineers, but the question asks for the individual stylist responsible for its design. That makes Marcello Gandini the canonical answer. He also designed the Miura, Espada and Urraco for Lamborghini.
