Rachel Elnaugh was the first woman to serve as an investor on the British television series Dragon's Den.
Elnaugh joined the original investor line-up when the programme launched in 2005. Her appointment made her the first female Dragon in the British series, preceding later female investors such as Deborah Meaden.
She brought experience from founding Red Letter Days, an experience-gift business. Her role on the panel involved questioning entrepreneurs about their companies, valuations and proposed ownership arrangements.
The distinction is about the British television series and its investor panel. It is not a claim that Elnaugh was the first woman to appear in any international version of the format, where the casting history differs by country.
