Rachel Elnaugh was the first female investor to join the original panel of BBC television's Dragon's Den.
Elnaugh appeared as one of the original Dragons when the British version launched in 2005. She was an entrepreneur associated with Red Letter Days, a company selling experience gifts such as driving, flying and leisure activities. Her business background gave her a particular interest in consumer products and experience-led companies.
The original panel also included Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe. Elnaugh left the regular panel after the first series, and later female Dragons became more familiar to many viewers, particularly Deborah Meaden.
A frequent mix-up is to name Meaden, who joined the programme after its launch, or Sara Davies, who became a Dragon much later. The question concerns the original panel rather than the first woman to become a Dragon at any point in the show's history.
