Rachel Elnaugh was the first female investor to appear on the regular panel of Britain's Dragon's Den.
Elnaugh was one of the five original dragons when the British series began in 2005. Her background was in business and retail, including the Red Letter Days experience-gift company, which she co-founded with her husband.
She appeared in the programme's first two series. Later female dragons included Deborah Meaden, Kelly Hoppen and Sara Davies, but they joined the panel after Elnaugh's original tenure.
A common mix-up is to name Deborah Meaden because she became one of the show's most recognisable long-term investors. Meaden was not the first female dragon, however: that distinction belongs to Elnaugh, who was present from the programme's launch.
