Who was the first Dragon to leave the British programme Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Simon Woodroffe was the first Dragon to leave the British programme Dragon's Den.

Woodroffe, the founder of the YO! brand, joined the original panel when the British series launched in 2005. He was known for creating YO! Sushi and for his distinctive approach to hospitality, design and business presentation.

He left the programme after its first series. The original line-up then changed, with Rachel Elnaugh also departing after series 1 and Deborah Meaden joining for the second series. These departures are easy to confuse because they occurred close together in the show's early history.

Woodroffe continued to be associated with entrepreneurship and the YO! brand after leaving television. His short tenure means he is less familiar to many later viewers than long-running investors such as Peter Jones or Deborah Meaden.
