Who was the creative director of the original Assassin's Creed game?

The story behind the answer

Patrice Désilets was the creative director of the original Assassin's Creed game.

Désilets is a Canadian video-game designer who worked at Ubisoft Montreal and served as creative director on Assassin's Creed. The project developed from earlier ideas associated with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but it became a new intellectual property centered on historical stealth and free-roaming movement.

The original Assassin's Creed launched in 2007 and introduced Altaïr, the Animus, the Assassin–Templar conflict, and the series' recurring historical-memory structure. Désilets later served as creative director for Assassin's Creed II before leaving Ubisoft.

Jade Raymond was an executive producer on the original game, not its creative director. Yves Guillemot is Ubisoft's co-founder and chief executive, while later Assassin's Creed projects had different creative leaders.
