Answer
Lord Liverpool
Who was the British prime minister during the War of 1812? Lord Liverpool was the British prime minister during the War of 1812.
Lord Liverpool was the title of Robert Banks Jenkinson, the 2nd Earl of Liverpool. He became prime minister on June 8, 1812, shortly after the conflict with the United States began, and remained in office until 1827.
His government directed Britain during both the War of 1812 and the final campaigns against Napoleonic France. The Treaty of Ghent, which ended the war with the United States, was signed on December 24, 1814, during Liverpool’s premiership.
A common mix-up is William Pitt the Younger, who was prime minister during earlier stages of the Napoleonic Wars but died in 1806. Lord Grenville and Lord Melbourne also held the office at different times, but neither was prime minister during the War of 1812.
