Who was David Bowie's second wife, married from 1992 until his death?

The story behind the answer

David Bowie's second wife, whom he married in 1992, was Iman.

Iman is a Somali-born model, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose full name is Zara Mohamed Abdulmajid. She and Bowie married in a private ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 24 April 1992, and later held a larger wedding celebration in Florence. Their marriage lasted until Bowie's death in January 2016.

The couple had one daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, born in 2000. Iman also had a daughter, Zulekha Haywood, from her earlier marriage to basketball player Spencer Haywood. Bowie had a son, Duncan Jones, from his first marriage to Mary Angela “Angie” Bowie.

That family history explains two frequent quiz traps. Angie Bowie was David's first wife, not his second, and Ava Cherry was a former romantic partner rather than his spouse. Tilda Swinton, meanwhile, was never married to Bowie; their resemblance and artistic association sometimes led to playful confusion.
