Who voiced Prince Eric?
Answer
Christopher Daniel Barnes
Answer
Christopher Daniel Barnes
Prince Eric was voiced by Christopher Daniel Barnes in Disney’s 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid.
Barnes was an American actor who began working as a child performer and later became especially recognizable for voice roles. His performance as Eric helped define the prince as a capable, adventurous character rather than merely a distant romantic prize. Eric rescues Ariel’s interest after she saves him from a shipwreck, though he initially does not realize that she is the mysterious girl whose voice he remembers.
The casting is sometimes confused with the actors connected to later versions of the story. David Hasselhoff played the singing voice of Eric in the 1996 direct-to-video sequel The Return of Jafar? No—he was not Eric in the 1989 film; the original animated feature’s English voice is Barnes. The 2023 live-action adaptation featured Jonah Hauer-King as Eric.
Barnes also became widely known for voicing Peter Parker and Spider-Man in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, which aired during the 1990s.
