Who voiced Darth Vader in the original "Star Wars" trilogy?

The story behind the answer

James Earl Jones voiced Darth Vader in the original "Star Wars" trilogy. His deep, commanding delivery became one of the most recognizable voices in film history.

David Prowse physically portrayed Vader inside the suit for the original trilogy, while stunt performer Bob Anderson performed much of the lightsaber fighting in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi". Because the character's identity was divided among several performers, audiences sometimes mistakenly credit Prowse for the voice as well.

Jones was initially uncredited for "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back", reportedly because he considered the voice performance a small part of the production. He received credit in "Return of the Jedi" in 1983. Alec Guinness played Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mark Hamill played Luke Skywalker, and David Prowse supplied Vader's physical performance rather than his spoken voice.
