Who voiced Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in the original Assassin's Creed game?

Philip Shahbaz voiced Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in the original Assassin's Creed game. Altaïr is the game's principal playable character, an Assassin operating in the Holy Land during the Third Crusade.

Shahbaz's performance helped define Altaïr's early characterization: confident, disciplined, and initially arrogant before the story forces him to reconsider his methods. The character's name is commonly written with a dotless or dotted transliteration, but the English game generally uses Altaïr.

Players sometimes confuse Altaïr's voice with later series leads. Nolan North voiced Desmond Miles and voiced Nathan Drake in Uncharted, while Roger Craig Smith became strongly associated with Ezio Auditore. Altaïr was later voiced by Cas Anvar in Assassin's Creed: Revelations, where the older version of the character appears in historical sequences.
